This just hasn't been a good year for me. I found out yesterday from a friend of mine that on September 11th, my first girlfriend Lisa passed away due to her lifelong illness of cystic fibrosis. That's two friends of mine who have died this year, and quite frankly, it is wearing me the fuck out. I think that a lot of my hurt comes from the fact that Lisa never stopped loving me, even after I broke up with her 5 years ago. She's the only girl I've ever known to have always cared about me, regardless of what I did or said. Now that she's gone... I feel like a part of my life has dissolved into the wind...

UPDATE: I have learned something, of the likes I think we all could take a lesson from. I tried to post all of this as a status update for my Facebook, but it exceeded the maximum number of characters. I wrote this in light of my ex-girlfriend Lisa's tragic passing. This is how I shall live my life from now on. If you have any thoughts, please express them.

In this day and age, Americans are taught to fear death. We create and purchase products that promise us extended life, youth, etc. But all of this is nothing more than a lie, for death cannot be conquered by any man. We are born dying, and our days are numbered. Death can come for us at any time. We shouldn't fear death, but rather, embrace it. Live each and every day as if it were your last. Tell the people you love how much you feel, and be glad that for at least one more day, you have lived to see the dawn. No longer do I fear death. When that day comes, I shall open my arms wide and say, "Come, take me, if you can. I won't go down without a fight, but when I lose, I shall accept it willingly, and gladly."
